Distance Learning at ACE
The ACE Distance Learning Plan was created to ensure every student at ACE Charter Schools receives a high-quality education that provides equitable access to learning and instruction during school closure.
It is our intention that we continue to work to meet our mission and build toward our vision, which is focused on being part of an equitable public education system where ACE students excel and are equipped to make transformative choices for their families and communities.
Distance Learning at ACE expects students to engage remotely in ways that support and continue classroom learning. Students should begin each day with a live connection with their College Seminar/Readiness teacher and classmates via Zoom or Google Hangouts. During this time, students will connect with their College Seminar/Readiness teacher and log into Sown to Grow to create personalized goals and reflections and create a schedule to plan their day. Throughout the week, students will attend live sessions of each class, where they will interact with the classroom content teacher. Students are to complete assignments independently assigned on Google classrooms, and may attend virtual office hours when needing greater assistance.
ACE is committed to making sure all students are able to engage in distance learning during this time of school closure. To ensure equitable access and continuity of learning, ACE Charter Schools will provide Chromebooks, internet hotspots, and all other necessary technology to all ACE students and families that have indicated a need for devices or internet connection at home. Parents should reach out to teachers or school sites for any technology needs during school closure. Parents and students should contact the content appropriate content teacher if needing assistance accessing online class materials.
ACE Charter Schools is committed to following the California Department of Education guidance on grading and graduation during school closure, therefore students will have the opportunity and ability to improve grades for the Spring 2020 semester by the completion of daily growth goals and reflection in Sown to Grow, completion of assigned work from Google classroom, and attendance of scheduled online classes meetings on Zoom/Google Hangouts. Failure to complete assignments will not result in grades being lowered. Students can expect teachers to provide feedback of all student work on a weekly basis.
ACE Charter Schools is committed to providing all students with IEPs proper services during school closure. We continue to follow the California Department of Education guidance on Special Education for school closure due to COVID-19. As a result, Special Education service providers will use online remote tools such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, and/or phone calls to connect with each student with an IEP. In addition to services, all students with an IEP can expect a weekly check-in with their Special Education case managing teacher via Zoom, Google Hangouts, and/or phone call. All IEP meetings will be held via phone calls or virtual online meetings. Parents and students should contact their Special Education case managing teacher or school site principal if needing assistance receiving Special Education services.
